What is the block time payment versus paying hourly as your training progresses?

Block time payments, under this plan, cover the costs for the aircraft time that you are expecting to need to complete training. If you decide to pay per hour, the rate is significantly higher due to the loss of the bulk discount given when paying up front. For example, under this plan, you would pay $5000 dollars up front and $500 dollars on completion of training. Under the pay per hour plan, each hour has a fixed cost plus the full instructor cost associated with each hour of training.

What are you responsible for?

You will be responsible for obtaining your medical, just as any other program would have you do. You will need to obtain aircraft rental insurance through a national aviation insurance provider. You are also responsible for taking and passing the ground portion of your training using any one of the excellent online ground training programs available. You will also be responsible for your FAA required testing, both knowledge test and check ride and any associated fee’s.

What is included in the $5500 dollar plan?

  • The aircraft
  • A full load of  fuel unless restricted by weight and balance
  • The instructor (if dual instruction is planned for the day)
  • 30 min Pre-flight ground instruction
  • Up to 1 hour of Post-flight debrief and ground instruction

What discount is applied with the block payment plan?

  • $15 dollar decrease in aircraft fixed cost (this is the “wet” cost that includes a full load of fuel unless restricted by weight and balance)
  • Up to $27.50 in instructor fee discounts (between dual instruction, Pre-flight and  Post-flight debrief and ground instruction)

What are the costs if you pay as you go?

  • $140 dollar aircraft fixed cost (includes the fuel required for planned flight
  • $25-$40 dollar per hour instructor fee (determined by type of instruction; Pre-flight ground and Post-flight debrief and ground instruction is provided if dual training is provided for the flight)

Incidentals

The Block Payment Plan reflects current pricing. They are based on a 40 hour flight regimen with a total of 40 hours of instruction between all types by the instructor. As, always, incidental fees are the responsibility of the student. For example, you have completed your 40 hours of instruction but have not been recommended for your Airman Certification Checkride without additional training. In this instance, the block payment would not cover this cost. However, you would still receive the discounts for this additional time.

Which Do you Prefer?

It is readily apparent that the Block Payment Plan is the more affordable of the two options. However you want to proceed, call us today to start your journey to your wings!
